Our Young Creatives courses give insight into all the opportunities the backstage world of theatre has to offer. Running short courses throughout the year, you can learn about a range of careers available beyond the stage and develop your skills.
Based at The Watermill Theatre, our sessions are free of charge and are suitable for anyone aged 14 - 18 years - whether you have ever done anything in theatre or not!

Want to know what it takes to become a set designer? From model boxes to mood boards, come and be part of the storytelling and create new and exciting worlds
COSTUME DESIGN
Immerse yourself in fantastical worlds and picture what characters would look like and what they would wear. Come and learn how to create impactful costumes and add to the storytelling
PLAYWRIGHTING
Are you bursting with ideas for new stories? Get your pen and paper at the ready and come and learn how to turn your ideas into captivating stories
DIRECTING
Take a seat in the director’s chair and have a hand at leading a show. Learn how to create theatrical experiences and enhance your creative vision
SOUND DESIGN
Do you want to know what it takes to become a sound designer? From sound effects to atmospheres, to mixing and balancing, come and learn what it’s like behind the soundboard
LIGHTING DESIGN
Do you want to know what it takes to become a lighting designer? From gels and rigs, to gobos and lanterns, come and learn how to create visual magic onstage
